AGM, 16th March 3pm-6pm
CSSA would like to thank all of you for supporting our activities and events this year! Especially we would also say thank you to those volunteers who made all these possible! At the same time, CSSA do apologize sincerely for any inconvenience and mistakes.
It’s almost time for our Annual General Meeting again. Hereby CSSA sincerely invites all of you to join our AGM which will be held on Wednesday, 16Th March, 3pm-6pm, in LG19, Trent Building. (Please do bring your membership cards).
You are more than welcome to apply our committee positions and have the absolute right to vote as long as you are our members.
If you are interested in any of the following positions please reply this email with a CV or a brief personal statement including your name, email, contact number, campus you stay frequently and position you want to apply for by 5pm, 15th March latest.
Available positions and responsibilities of committees for 2011-2012 are as follows:
General requirement: Candidates for committee officers should be CSSA’s members who have paid their membership; could well balance their study and CSSA’s work; have the ability to organize a group consisting of 4-10 people; master strong communication skills.
Departmental secretary can join the sector directly by sending email to info@cssa-nott.org.uk
IT Officer: manage and maintain CSSA website and BBS, necessary update if required;
Requirement: have relevant experience and sufficient time to stay online;
Publicity Officer: prepare and discriminate materials for advertising activities and events; publish reports and news; use internet and media to advertise.
Requirement: have basic ability of design and report; responsible.
External Relation Officer: communicate and keep in touch with current and potential sponsors; event fundraising;
Requirement: strong ability of communication; highly responsible; deep understanding of activities of CSSA and local businesses.
Social Officer: organize cultural and entertainment activities;
Requirement: quite strong abilities of organization and communication.
Cultural Officer: organize activities and events to promote Chinese-English culture exchange;
Requirement: good at communication and be responsible.
Sport Officer: organize sports events; keep in touch with sub-clubs;
Requirement: passion for sports; responsible.
Travel Officer: organize trips;
Requirement: good communication skills; familiar with local culture and places of interest.
Treasurer: management of CSSA’s account;
Requirement: cautiousness, responsibility; those majoring in finance and accounting are preferred.
General Secretary: record meeting minutes ; email communication with members; room booking for events and meetings; managing CSSA’s info email inbox; provide help for the Chair Board;
Requirement: responsibility; ability to manage information;
Student Representatives: responsible for collecting demands and advices from students to help CSSA to keep in touch with students. No need to apply. Whoever interested in becoming representatives for 2nd year, 3rd year and PhD students can directly send email to info@cssa-nott.org.uk. (Representatives for 1st year and master’s year will be recruited in the beginning of the next academic year.)
Requirement: passionate about life; frequently take part in activities and events held by CSSA.
After the AGM, new committees should take over as soon as possible. Ex-committee officers should send a hand-over guide to successors to make sure new committee members could handle sector jobs well. The hand-over guide generally includes key dates, important information and useful contacts.

Chinese New Year Fun Fair 2011
It is the Chinese New Year time again! This year is the rabbit year, which will start on the 3rd Feb, Thursday this week! To celebrate this wonderful occasion, the Chinese Student and Scholars Association (CSSA) is organising the annual Chinese New Year Fun Fair for you! There are interesting games, magic performance and amazing gifts waiting for you! Check out the poster!
